Delicate Motif: Euthanasia

Scholars,

You were long on emotion and short on patience when we were discussing "release" in The Giver. We all know now that release is, in fact, a mercy killing -- euthanasia.

And we all came to the concerted realization of how morally wrong euthanizing was in Jonas's "utopia," no matter what the reason: the young, the old, the incorrigible.

Below you will find a quick video of people who possibly have never heard such a term and who surely have never read The Giver.

I don't think their idea will take flight.

Euthanasia (literally "a good death" in Ancient Greek) -- the practice of ending a life as painlessly as possible.

A delicate motif in The Giver.

Yours truly,

M. Kittner

Mr. Kittner,
I found personification in the song Gravity by John Mayer. This counts, right?

Gravity
Is working against me
And gravity
Wants to bring me down

Mr. Kittner,
I found an (I have no idea how to spell it) onomatapoiea in Banana Phone by Raffi.

Ding-a-ling-ling-ling-ling-ling-ling-ling!

I also found a simile in Full Moon by The Black Ghosts.

Like the morning sun your eyes will follow me.

I found two examples of personification and two examples of imagery (sense of touch and sight) in Thriller by Michael Jackson.

You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it.

You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes.

You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun.
