Hawaiian Beach Bash Tomorrow!

Congratulations to the forty-four (yes! forty-four!) Executives who qualified for the Hawaiian Beach Party! (Names below, on right.) An astounding job you all have done: reading in class, reading at home, flat out unbridled reading everywhere and anywhere!

I'm so proud to have you all represent our team at the first incentive party!

Although only twenty-six of you didn't qualify this time, you placed yourselves in incredible striking position for the second AR party; you are off to a beautifully auspicious start!

Forty-two points are all that you need, and I am certain that is an absurdly attainable goal (the deadline is not until Dec. 17. Come on!). You just have to want it -- every single point adds up!

Let's try to get EVERYONE at the Touchdown Tailgate and show Walkertown we ARE the perennially dominant team!

Yours truly,

M. Kittner

PS - See you there!

Til you can call me Richard Peck, I'm on his last 2 books of the WMS Library. 40 pages in to "The River Between Us"(a civil war book) and 52 pages in to "Ghosts I Have Been"(another book for humor & laughs). When I pass both AR tests it will give me 11 more ARpts.!!! Then I will move on to some more of Rodman Philbrick's books.

See you there! At this pace, L. Carico, you'll qualify for the AR auction by December!

Congrats!

Three: "The Tell Tale Heart," "The Monkey's Paw," and "The Necklace."

Now, there is a test for "The Legend of Sleep Hollow," but it's based on Washington Irving's short story, which is much longer -- and more challenging -- than the performance we saw.

Astounding, L. Carico! If you read all of his novels this year (which you will), that will be an incredible attainment.

When _Twilight_ is finished, you know I'll "going to get me some Richard Peck!"

Nice job!

Mr.K I just got back from the Autumn Leaf Festival in Mayberry(Mount Airy) and went to their classic car show; they had Dale Jr's #88 car and some nice hot rods. Have you gone yet? If not it is on Oct.12th also.

L.Carico

PS: Have you ever been to Galax V.A.?

Cool! Sounds as though you had a blast, L. Carico.

Answering your question: no, I've never visited Galax, VA. I have, however, attended vintage car shows that they have over in Reynolda Village; they are always amazing.

Hey, just to tell you, the _Twlight_ movie is going to STINK! They are destined to mess it up! The girl that plays Bella is prettier than the guy that will play Edward. Edward is supposed to be this godly thing! Like the statue of David with clothes on! BUT NO! THEY CAST THE WRONG PERSON! UGH! SAVE ME!!!!!! *SCREAMING WITH RAGE*

There is no way there is anyone on this Earth who would be a better Edward!! There isn't anyone in the world that looks as 'godly' as they described him!! I think they picked a perfect match, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart look like the absolute perfect Edward and Bella!!

For me, film adaptations are invariably gross. There simply is not enough time (average movie, what, about 180 minutes?) for the countless images (as well as your brains' connections) to be baked into a screen play.

Honestly, I cannot think of one example where the movies were even close semblances of the books. . . . Wait, OK, _The Count of Monte Cristo_ was darn good, but THAT'S IT!!!

Mr.K I have got my 59 AR pts. for the 3rd AR party! I'm half way through "Ghosts I Have Been". Also it looks like I'm far away from the TOP 10; only by 7pts., that I will regain after my 2 Richard Peck books.

A man with a plan. I like it, L. Carico. Likewise, I too, plan on knocking back a Peck book this weekend (after I complete _Twilight_). I can't wait to conference about it with you!

Top 10 is calling your name -- a lot of competition there!

Two . . . maybe three days max. I have to admit, it is rigorously addictive.

Mr.K "A Long Way From Chicago" is the 1st book out of a 2 book series by Richard Peck. After "A Long Way From Chicago" there is "A Year Down Yonder" the finishing book of the two... Just though I'd let you know.

Sweet! Thanks, L. Carico. I'll pick it up this weekend. A feeling is brewing that I will tear through that first Peck book.
